ThisDayWeDie, Regression

Ireland, 2008.

I think I first found this band at TheSirensSound. While Regression is but a compilation of demos, I found it interesting enough to share since ThisDayWeDie distinctively fuse shoegaze, ambient, electronic, progressive, industrial and black metal.

"Their music explores depths of personal destruction and despair, resulting in a uniquely desolate, macabre sound. The dysphoria with which the music is based around is intensified by the coalescence of apocalyptic atmosphere and dark progressive, and is suffused with haunting vocals, industrial undertones and pounding rhythms."

The American Dollar, The Technicolour Sleep

US, 2007.

"Started by high school friends from Queens in 2005, The American Dollar creates cinematic, electronica-tinged instrumental rock. The duo fuses processed drums, spacious keyboards and powerful organ swells with electric guitar and bass, creating deep sonic textures while maintaining the passion and energy of a live band. The swirling soundscapes build and swell, punctuated by glitchy beats, breathing and expanding into crashing guitars and soaring leads: precisely constructed symphonies for a new era."

Battle of Mice, A Day of Nights

US, 2006.

"Battle of Mice was a post-metal supergroup consisting of Julie Christmas (Made Out of Babies), Josh Graham (Neurosis, ex-Red Sparowes, A Storm of Light), Joel Hamilton (Book of Knots), Tony Maimone (Book of Knots, Pere Ubu), and Joe Tomino (Fugees, Dub Trio, Peeping Tom).

The album, which was released under Neurot Recordings, is heavily influenced by metal, post-rock and noise rock roots. The atmosphere is decidedly eerie and unnerving, with one song, At the Base of the Giant's Throat, featuring a recorded 911 call between vocal sections. The lyrical content is wide in scope, touching on love, lust, jealousy, and rage."
