Cold Sun, Dark Shadows

US, sometime in the 60s

Originally released 20 years after recording, "Dark Shadows" bears testament not only to Texas psych but has a long and turbulent history of it's own. The Internet slowly saved this hidden gem from a life in obscurity. The use of the electrified autoharp make it unique and only heighten the surreal ambience of the record.

Like fellow compatriots Másfel, Korai Öröm blend Hungarian folk with progressive rock. Korai Öröm in particular delve in psychedelic and space rock influences, lying somewhere between the brilliance of Hawkwind and the danceable ethnic rythms of Ozric Tentacles.

Indukti, Idmen

Poland, 2009.

A long-awaited album. Idmen maintains Indukti's progressive structure, swarming with oriental melodies and violin-driven songs, but introduces a slightly heavier rhythm and some Arcturian (they sound like Garm to me) metal vocals.

The Pax Cecilia, Nouveau

US, 2004.

The Pax Cecilia's first album is an obscure release that lacks the experimental instrumentation and production quality from their subsequent work, Blessed Are The Bonds. Notwithstanding, it is an enjoyable album overall, nicely incorporating violin and piano-ridden melodies into a post-hardcore structure. Screamo vocals aside, Nouveau anticipates a very interesting composition.
